JOB OPPORTUNITY
Wellness & Support Advocate

 

Mental Health America of the Heartland currently seeks certified Wellness and Support Advocates to provide non-clinical peer support to people living with mental illness on site in one or more of our residential facilities.  The openings are for 10 hours and/or 20 hours per week.

The primary focus of support will be coaching, monitoring and mentoring social, recreational and life skills.  The duties include providing professional peer support in individual and group settings, promoting recovery by education and attentive listening, establishing relationships to maximize community resources and assisting with program operations including apartment inspections, maintenance and cleaning. 

Qualified applicants must have

  • GED or high school diploma
  • Personal lived experience with recovery from mental illness
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist in Kansas or Missouri, required
