Ms. Lewis is responsible for oversight of all agency programs, finances, operations and personnel, and is the organization's lead policy and systems advocate. She possesses over 25 years of program development, management and implementation experience.

She has worked in the fields of domestic violence, mental retardation and developmental disability, family planning, reproductive health and teen pregnancy prevention, mental health and child welfare, and with juvenile delinquents, at-risk youth, and persons with mental illness. She has served as a consultant to the Ohio and Indiana Child Welfare Training programs, and serves as a federal and regional grant review teams, several local boards, and as Adjunct Faculty for the University of Kansas. She also possesses extensive background in outcome evaluation, community collaboration, and program, project and grants management and has personal and professional experience in cultural diversity and cultural diversity training.

Susan Crain Lewis received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Women’s Studies from Allegheny College, and a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington.

Ms. Davis is currently the Director of Mental Health Promotion for Mental Health America of the Heartland.  Before her work at MHAH, Stacy was the Senior Continuing Education Program Manager at KU Medical Center for five years developing accredited continuing education programs for physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.  She has 8 years of social service experience and 16 years of experience in design and delivery of professional and community education.   She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Life Science from Kansas State University and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology and Masters of Arts in Education from the University of Kansas.

Simon Messmer, MSW

In his six years of service to MHAH and its clientele, Simon has played a critical role in the development of specialized housing programs for persons with mental illness, while also overseeing MHAH’s consumer-run programs and providing training and support to the agency’s many consumer staff members.

As Director, HtoH, Simon acts as a liaison to various community collaborations and serves as an advisor to client organizations and MHAH staff on supportive housing program development, funding and operations.

Simon has served as the Residential Counselor for Marion Apartments permanent supportive housing program, where he provided direct service to tenants, assisted in program operations, and was responsible for program-related fundraising. He previously worked in a broad range of housing/homelessness programs including those for adolescents, adults with severe developmental disabilities, and children in need of assistance.

Simon received his Bachelors degrees in History and Psychology from Iowa State University and a Masters degree in Social Welfare from the University of Kansas
