Peer Advocacy
Peer advocates improve the quality of life of individuals with mental illness by providing real life knowledge and experience. MHAH employs peer advocates as a vital layer of support for Heartland Housing. Advocates provide tenants with recovery education and advocacy, assist with accessing services, and support participation in community activities.

MHAH's Heartland Housing Initiative envisions expanding peer advocacy services, as funding permits, to persons with mental illness in the Kansas City Metropolitan area living in housing units maintained by other organizations and to individuals living independently.

Contact Randy Johnson at (913) 281-2221, ext 111 or by e-mail for additional program information or opportunities for volunteering.
